The first Judge appointed to the Recorder’s Court in British Burmah and previously district Judge in the Island of Ceylon. Born at Farndon in Cheshire, on the 17th April 1822 , he died at sea on the 21st August 1867 on his voyage to England undertaken in the hope of recovering that health of which his devotion to the faithful discharge of the duties of his high offices for 22 years in an Indian climate had deprived him. At the close of a life well spent in all its relations, public and private, he desired to have this his last prayer recorded “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” This tablet is erected by his sorrowing widow. |

No mortal woes can reach the peaceful sleeper here while angels watch the soft repose. |
Crisp | Charles Malcolm, Capt. | Tomb in the Protestant Cemetery, Rangoon | Sacred to the memory of Capt. Charles Malcolm Crisp. Born in England 14th February 1814. Died at Rangoon 20th May 1862. Who was formerly Commander in the Mercantile Navy for many years Merchant and resident in Rangoon and who laterly held the appointment of Post Master and Assessor of Income Tax. The former of these having been conferred upon him in acknowledgement of the important services he rendered to General Godwin during the operations which terminated in the capture of the stockade position of the Burmese Force round the great Pagoda of Rangoon in 1852. In all the relations of life he was justly esteemed and respected by his fellow townsmen and in death was universally regretted. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. This tablet had been erected by his deeply afflicted widow and a few sympathising friends. |

"Mahratta" near this port when on a voyage for the benefit of his health on July 26th 1877, age 53 years 11 months 10 days. This memoral is erected by the Commanders, Officers, Clerks, Engineers and Stewards of the company and by some friends in Calcutta as tribute of the deep respect and high esteem in which he was held.
