Moung Ohn Ghine  A.T.M, C.I.E     
An account of his attendance at the Coronation of King Edward VII and a collection of congratulatory letters, addresses and extracts from his journals. ​                   


John Cormack MacKenzie    -  A brief account of his life including some photographs.

Lim Chin Tsong   -  The story of a man who was instrumental in the early development of Burmah Oil.

Capt. Hugh J. Chubb  -  A short biography of Captain Chubb, Irrawaddy Flotilla Co.

The Ford Family  -  Photos of the family and friends of Major Frank O'Neill and Annabel Couper Ford.

Dr. and Mrs de Souza  -  An employee of this family has kept these photos of happier times. ​

Isaiah Nierses Manook   -  Born in 1861 to one of the oldest families in Burma, this account was written in 1928.​

Arrakiel Carapiet Martin  -  Principal of the firm of A.C. Martin & Co. Engineers, Builders and Contractors.

Kathleen Baird-Murray          
World Overturned  is the autobiography of her mother. Kathleen's story is A Voyage Round My Mother, this short article describes her journey.  ​

Fiona Thorburn has supplied us with these interesting photos taken by her father when he worked for Burmah Oil at Tharrawaddy.

James and Florence Edwards  - Short history of their service in Maymyo with the Salvation Army & the Salvation Army Soldiers Home and hostel with photos.

Valerie Willix Howells
Recollections of a Burma Girl by Valerie Willix Howells.  Valerie's story starts with her early childhood memories, her parents and the homes they occupied around the country, she includes a few photos, the family was to settle in Maymyo where they were interned during the war.  Valerie recounts some memories of this time.  Although the internment was “really bad” she remained positive throughout and started a school for the children.  Her positive thinking was to see her through until she died in 2001 in Australia having arrived there in 1947.  In April 2001 she had celebrated 50 years of marriage to Peter who concludes the remainder of her life story with these words “I was honoured to share fifty years with Val.  She was energetic, generous, enthusiastic, kind, loving, fun-loving, sincere, honest, a gifted pianist, a lover of animals.  She had a strong faith in God and a keen sense of duty.  She was a wonderful wife.”

Aidan Kenneth Thompson
A Burma Frontier Serviceman, Aidan joined the newly formed B.F.S. in 1922 and remained in his post until his evacuation.  His recollections, submitted by his son Christopher, also include a brief account of his families flight out in April 1942 and his subsequent army career.  The Thompson's trace their Burma connections back to the 1780's. ​

Captain John Darwood
Ship-builder of Moulmein  and ex Engineer of the "Diana" famed for being the first steamer in the east and her participation in the A-B wars.  John is also mentioned in our Forests & Timber Trade page as well as extracts from Old Moulmein (recommended reading section.)​

Edward Stanley Willix
A short biography detailing Edward's career with Burma Railways.

Richardson Family -   A well known name in Burma - this brief biography is supplied by D. Chater who is a member of the family.​

Rev'd. John Ebenezer Marks  -  Founder of St. John's College, Rangoon.​

The Antram Family  -  The family's genealogy  covering several generations.​​
