PictureSally and Jill
Nurse “Wadie” otherwise known as Sally Wade Wade (there is a reason for the extra Wade.)  Annabel Ford credited Sally with saving the life of her daughter Jill, who was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.  Sally shocked the infant Jill into life by dipping her alternately into hot (ish) and then cold water.

Major Frank Ford, 1892-1980, born in London and Annabel Elsie Ford, nee Couper, 1906-2004, born in Edinburgh, both died in Berwick, Victoria, Australia.

Phyllis Lattimer, 1912-1987, died in Neston, Cheshire, married to Alastair MacIntyre, 1949, they had no children but Phyllis regarded the Ford children as her proxy family, when Jill was in the U.K. she would spend every Christmas with her and was by her side when she died.  Read the Evacuation Memoirs of Phyllis on the ABL website.
