Headstones and Memorials at Mandalay
Mandalay is no exception when it comes to the destruction of cemeteries, sometimes by nature herself.
As usual, many of the stones were taken by collectors as ornaments/curios but most were destroyed.
Those that have been rescued are scattered around. The ABL is working hard to correct this.
We are in touch with various organizations here and in Burma to preserve those which remain.
About 20% of headstones from the cantonment are said to be at the main cemetery.
