Whereas it appears to the Chief Commissioner that land is required to be taken up by Government for a public purpose, namely, for a line of Railway to connect the Kemmendine Railway Station with that running along the Strand Bank in the town of Rangoon and Kemmendine, it is hereby declared that, for the above purpose, the land specified below id required in the vicinity of Rangoon. …
J.E.G. Villa, Registrar of the Court of the Recorder of Rangoon and Official Assignee, is granted three months’ privilege leave under section 138 of the Civil Leave Code from 4th July 1888 or such other date as he may avail himself of the same.

M.H.H. Fox, Executive Engineer 4th grade, substantive pro tem, is transferred from the Ruby Mines division to the office of the Superintending Engineer, 3rd Circle, for employment as his Personal Assistant, which appointment he joined on the afternoon of 23rd June 1888.
Under section 3 of the Land Acquisition Act. of 1870 the Chief Commissioner appoints Lt. E.C. Townsend, Asst. Commissioner, Kyauktan, to exercise the powers of a collector for the acquisition of the land described in notification no 74 dated 7th July 1888.
With reference to this department Notificate no. 3 Dated 4th Jan. 1888, the Chief Commissioner appoints Col. G. Alexander, Deputy Commissioner, Shwegyin district, to succeed Mr H.P. Todd-Naylor, C.S., as Forest Settlement Officer to enquire into and determine the existence, nature and extent of any rights claimed by or alleged to exist in favour of any person in or over any land comprised within the limits specified in this department notifications nos. 34 and 35 dated 10th June 1885 and any claims relating to the practice within the said limit of taungya cultivation and to deal with the same as provided in Chapter II of the Burma Forest Act. 1881.

C.B. Coles Hardinge, Head Asst., Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Upper Chindwin, was appointed to be a Myook, 4th grade, substantive pro tem., from 16th May to 3rd June 1888, both days inclusive and was placed in charge of the Mingun Township, Upper Chindwin Dist.
Privilege leave for three months is granted to R.G. Culloden, Asst. Collector of Customs and Superintendent, Preventive Service, Rangoon, with effect from 15th Aug. 1888.
Lt. P.B. Vaughan, who has been appointed to be an Asst. Commandant of Military Police, Burma, reported his arrival in Rangoon on 1st July 1888 and is posted to Myadoung vice Lt. O.C. Armstrong, who rejoins his regiment.
B. Cumberland, Asst. Superintendent of Police, on return from leave is posted to Myadaung (sic) vice G.W. Tarleton.
The Chief Commissioner appoints Lt. H.N. Warde, Asst. Commissioner, to be a Magistrate of he 1st class in the Pyinmana Dist.
Leave of absence from the Corps for three months is granted to Lt-Col. H. Rigg, Commanding Burma State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps, with effect from the 11th July 1888.
With reference to section 3 of the Land Acquisition Act … the Chief Commissioner appoints G.J.S. Hodgkinson, C.S.I., C.S., Commissioner and Sessions Judge, Pegu Divn., to perform the function of a Judge under the said Act in respect of the acquisition of the land described in this department notification no. 17 dated 21st June 1888.
At a special examination held at Shwebo on 10th June 1888 Mr R.A. Lamb, Deputy Commissioner, passed in Burmese by the lower standard, with credit.
With effect from the date on which he returned from the furlough granted him Mr D. Aldridge, Headmaster of the Govt. Normal School, Rangoon, is appointed to be Headmaster of the Govt. Normal School, Moulmein.
C.H. Wollaston, Asst. Engineer, 3rd grade, Arakan Divn., has passed the professional examination prescribed in Public Works Department Code, Vol. 1, Chapter II, paragraph 10.
D. Joscelyne, Executive Engineer, 2nd grade, reported his arrival at Rangoon on the forenoon of this date and is appointed to be Assistant to the Chief Engineer and Asst. Secretary to the Chief Commissioner in the Public Works Dept.
James Wallace, Asst. engineer, 1st grade officiated as Executive Engineer of the Bhamo Divn. from 9th to the 18th Aug. 1887, both days inclusive.

Capt. C.J. Orr, 3rd Infantry, Hyderabad Contingent, who has been appointed to special duty in Burma is posted to the charge of the Sagu sub-divn., Minbu Dist., vice Mr R. Wall, transferred.
On being relieved by Mr W.G.L. Rice, C.S., Mr J.N.O. Thurston is transferred from Taungdwingyi to the charge of the Pagan sub-divn. of the Pagan district.
On being relieved by Capt. C.J. Orr, Mr R. Wall, Myook, 3rd grade, is transferred from Sagu to the headquarters of the Minbu district vice W.B. Tydd, transferred.
On being relieved by Mr R. Wall, Mr W.B. Tydd, Myook, 1st grade is transferred from Minbu to the charge of the Pokokku sub-divn of the Pagan district.
Mr J.L. Lang, Extra Asst. Commissioner, 6th grade, was placed on special duty in the Pegu district from 9th to 13th July 1888.
Consequent on the departure on furlough of Mr T.H. Aplin, Deputy Conservator of Forests, 3rd grade, Mr H.B. Ward, Deputy Conservator, 4th grade, is appointed to officiate as Deputy Conservator, 3rd grade, with effect from 15th Feb. 1888 and until further orders.
Mr A. Weston, Deputy Conservator of Forests, 4th grade, was appointed to officiate as Deputy Conservator 5th grade, with effect from 17th Feb. 1888, during the absence on privilege leave of Mr F.W. Thellusson, or until further orders.
The following alteration of rank is made, with effect from 14th May 1888 consequent on the return of Mr F.W. Thellusson from privilege leave: Mr A. Wooton, Deputy Conservator of Forests 4th officiating 3rd grade, to revert to his substantive rank.
With effect from 4th June 1888, the following promotions are ordered: C.H. Hobart-Hampden, Asst. Conservator of Forests, 2nd grade, in Lower Burma, to be an Asst. Conservator of Forests, 1st grade, and to officiate as Deputy Conservator of Forests, 4th grade. Mr G.Q. Corbett, Asst. Conservator of Forests, 3rd grade in Lower Burma, to be an Asst. Conservator of Forests, 2nd grade. Mr H. Jackson, Asst. Conservator of Forests, 3rd grade, in Lower Burma, to be an Asst. Conservator of Forest, 2nd grade,
Lt. W.G. Alban, 13th Bombay Infantry, who has been appointed to be a Commandant of Military Police in Upper Burma, is posted to the charge of the Kyaukse Military Police Battalion during the absence on leave of Lt. Colomb or until further orders.
With effect from the date on which he may be relieved by Lt. W.G. Alban, Lt. W. Giles, officiating Commandant, Kyaukse Military Police Battalion, reverts to his substantive appointment of Second-in-Command, Sagaing Military Police Battalion.
With effect from the date on which he may be relieved by Lt. W. Giles, Lt. J.A. Vanrenen, Second-in- Command, is transferred to Kyaukse.
