With the sanction of the Government of India, Lt. H. Daly is appointed to be Superintendent of the Northern Shan States, with effect from 1st May 1888.
Mr Edward Gusavus Bear is appointed to be a Myook, 2nd grade, and is posted to the headquarters of the Mandalay district.
Mr B. Houghton, C.S., Asst. Commissioner, is transferred from Sandoway to the charge of the Mandalay subdivision, Mandalay Dist.
Furlough on medical cert. is granted to Lt. A.B. Pritchard, Asst. Commissioner, for six mths. With effect from the date on which he may avail himself of it.
Mr A. Lyons is permitted to resign his appointment as a Myook, 1st grade, with effect from 1st Sept. 1888.
Under the provisions of section 2 (3) of the Upper Burma Land Acquisition Regulation 1886, Mr W.F. Noyce, Extra Asst. Commissioner, Mandalay, is specially appointed by the Chief Commissioner to perform the functions of a Collector under the regulations in respect of the land described in this department notification no. 104, dated 28th Aug. 1888.
Privilege leave for three months Is granted to Major C.T. Bingham, Deputy Conservator of Forests, with effect from 3rd Sept. 1888 or the subsequent date on which he may avail himself of it.
Mr G.Q. Corbett, Asst. Conservator of Forests, is transferred from Tharrawaddy to the charge of the Rangoon Divn.
Mr G. Campbell, Superintendent of Police, Minbu Dist., is placed on special duty in Lower Burma, with effect from 6th Aug. 1888 before noon.

The Chief Commissioner withdraws from Mr F.C. Nisbet, Myook, 2nd grade, all the Magisterial powers with which he is vested.
The Chief Commissioner appoints Mr F.C. Nisbet, Myook, 2nd grade, to be a Magistrate of the 3rd class in the Kyaukse Dist.
The Chief Commissioner appoints Lt. H. D’Urban Keary to be a member of the Shwebo Municipal Committee.
At a special examination held on 26th and 27th July 1888 the undermentioned officers passed in Law and Revenue by the standards specified:

Mr P.E. Raven, Asst. Engineer, 1st grade, Rangoon Divn., is granted 28 days’ language leave, with effect from such date as he may be allowed to avail himself of it.
Mr H.G. Billings, Asst. Engineer, 1st grade, temporarily attached to the office of the Superintending Engineer, First Circle, is granted two months and 17 days privilege leave with effect from the forenoon of the 4th Sept. 1888.

J.C. Fanshawe, Dist. Superintendent of Police, is transferred from special duty at Ratnagiri to the charge of the Arakan Hill Tracts dist.
The Headquarters of Mr F.C. Annesley, Asst. Superintendent of Police, Kyaukse district, were at Kyaukse from the 16th Feb to 6th Mar. 1888, at Paliek from 7th Mar. to 28th May and at Kyaukse from 29th May.
The Chief Commissioner specially empowers Mr B. Houghton, C.S., Asst. Commissioner, a Magistrate of the 1st class to try in a summary way the offences specified in section 260 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1882.
Mr G.H. Law, River Surveyor, Moulmein, is granted privilege leave for two months, with effect from the date on which he availed himself of it.
The Chief Commissioner appoints Surgeon J.R.P. McDermott, Civil Surgeon, Sagaing, to be a member of the Sagaing Municipal Committee.
At a special meeting held on the 11th Aug. 1888, the Sandoway Municipal Committee elected Mr A.E. Hurry, C.S., officiating Deputy Commissioner, to be their President vice Mr B. Houghton, C.S., who has resigned.
At a special meeting held on the 21st Aug. 1888, the Bassein Municipal Committee elected Mr H. Adamson, C.S., Deputy Commissioner, to be their President vice Mr A.R. Birks, C.S., who has left the station.

Lt. Vanrenen was placed under suspension on 8th Aug. and made over to the Military authorities on the 4th Sept. 1888.

R.R.T. Wall, Myook, 3rd grade, Minbu, is granted privilege leave for three months, with effect from the date on which he avails himself of it.
F.C. Gates, C.S., relinquished charge of his duties as Under Secy. to the Chief Commissioner on 29th May 1888, after noon.
The Chief Commissioner is pleased, with effect from 25th Sept. 1888, to appoint Lieut. J.J. Cronin to exercise and perform in and for the town of Yandoon all the powers and duties conferred or imposed on a Collector by the Act.

Privilege leave for three months is granted to Mr T.D. Jameson, (sic) Inspector-General of Police, Lower Burma, with effect from the date on which he may avail himself of it.
Mr J. Dixon, Dist. Superintendent of Police, is appointed to officiate as Inspector-General of Police, Lower Burma, during the absence on privilege leave of Mr T.D. Jameson, or until further orders.
The furlough for one year granted to Mr E.H. Molloy, Dist. Superintendent of Police, by Judicial Department Notification no. 95, dated 6th June 1888, is commuted to leave for one year on medical certificate under section 128 of the Civil Leave Code.
Extraordinary leave without allowance for six months is granted to Capt. D.L. de la Cherois, Asst. Superintendent of Police, with effect from the date on which he may avail himself of it.
Mr B.L. Cumberland, Asst. Dist. Superintendent of Police, is appointed to the charge of the Civil Police of the Kawlin subdivision of he Myadoung district with effect from 24th Aug. 1888.
H.P. Pedler, Asst. Dist. Superintendent of Police, is appointed to the charge of the Civil Police of the Taungzin subdivision with effect from 26th Nov. 1887.
The Chief Commissioner appoints Mr F.A. Tomas, Myook, 4th grade, to be a Magistrate of the 3rd class in the Bassein District.
The Chief Commissioner accepts the resignation tendered by Surgeon C.S. Rundle of his appointment as Hony. Surgeon of the Akyab detachment of the Rangoon Volunteer Rifle Corps.
At a special exam. held at Meiktila on 4th Sept. 1888, Private Hodson, of the Rifle Brigade, passed in Burmese by the lower standard.
Mr W.R. Foy, Asst. Engineer, 1st grade, is transferred from the Second Circle to the First Circle for employment in the Henzada district.
Mr J. Duncan, Asst. Engineer, 1st grade, Myingan district, Second Circle, is granted two months privilege leave with effect from the forenoon of the 1st Oct. 1888.
Major M. Laugharne, R.E., Executive Engineer, 2nd grade, Public Works Dept., Burma, on duty at Chatham, is granted 11 months furlough from 1st Dec. or from such date as he may complete his course of instruction at Chatham.
H.R.H. Coxe, C.S., Asst. Commissioner, is appointed to officiate as Under Secy. to the Chief Commissioner during the absence on privilege leave of Mr A.S. Fleming or until further order.

At an examination held at Pakokku on 8th Sept. Lt. Ivor Phillips, B.S.C., Second-in-Command, Pokokku (sic) Military Police Battalion passed in Burmese by the Colloquial test.
At a special departmental examination held at Mingin on 19th Sept. 1888 the undermentioned officers passed the departmental exam. in Burmese by the standard specified:
